A seven-member team from Ghana leading the Trans-Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign is in Uganda on a five-day tour. Received on Saturday, the group enjoyed a captivating cultural immersion at Ndere Cultural Centre yesterday and is set to meet President Museveni today to present their agenda for a visa-free, unified Africa.
Earlier today, Dr. Basil Ajer, Director Tourism at the ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities , urged Africa to “take a common direction,” noting that intra-African travel remains harder than travelling beyond the continent and calling for a round-table to unlock movement for the continent’s over 1.5 billion people.
Campaign Lead hon. Ras Mubarak emphasized Africa’s need to ease travel, boost tourism, create jobs and rely on its own market. The team was also commended by UTA and the Ghana Consulate for championing unity and promoting Uganda’s potential.
The delegation has departed for Mayuge for their meeting with President Yoweri Museveni who is currently on his campaign trail.
